Serves 4 persons
Braised Chicken Surat Thani / GAI OB NAM DAENG SURAT
Chicken thighs, or drumsticks 500 gr.
Salt 1 tsp.
Pepper 1 tsp.
Cooking oil 1 cup
Chopped onion 2 tbsp.
Ketchup 1 tbsp.
Seasoning sauce 1 tbsp.
Light soy sauce 1 tbsp.
Worcestershire sauce 1 tbsp.
Medium hot chili sauce 1 tbsp.
Sugar 2 tbsp.
Bay leaves 3 each
Water 1 cup
Boiled green beans or carrots 1 cup
Wash the chicken and allow drying or drying with absorbent paper.
Mix the salt and pepper and spread over all the chicken parts with the hand. Heat the oil in a wok, fry the chicken until golden, and then remove from the wok and drain.
Return the wok with the remaining oil to the heat and fry the onion. When fragrant, add the catsup, seasoning sauce, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, chili sauce and sugar, stir, then transfer to a pot.
Place the chicken and the water in the pot, add bay leaves. Cover and simmer over low heat until the chicken is tender. Serve with boiled green beans or carrots.
